The answer to ironing coats is: don't. Put the coat on a good-quality rust-proof and hang it in your shower -- after you've finished showering, of course. The warmth and damp will quietly get rid of the creases without the shine which ironing will give. If you are a real hurry, use a thick-ish damp (wet, then well wrung-out) cloth. Don't press, just bring the iron near to the surface. It's not pressure but steam that does it. Then, assuming it is a wool coat, use a piece of smooth wood to "block" it. This means to use the wood to press down on the fabric, pushing out creases but without sideways, friction motion. This also removes some of the moisture of the steam.
