Well I had an ice cream stand this summer and didn't have a freezer so I put ice in my wagon and put a bunch of umbrellas on top and poured cold water on toip of them and suprisingly it actually kept the ice cream cold the whole entire day!

the only way i would know is to put the ice cream container into a plastic bag, fill that bag with snow and salt. but the snow would melt withing half an hour, so i guess that's not much use really.

You could possibly try packing the ice cream with dry ice... I've heard it works.

Dry ice will keep it cold and you can pack it in bags of ice.
