You should leave wild rabbits alone because they can wash themselves and aren't made to be domesticated.

Pet rabbits also wash themselves. Rabbits are clean animals. If your rabbit is healthy and you keep her habitat/cage clean, you should not bathe your rabbit. They are very capable caring for themselves, though daily brushing by you would be nice (especially important when the rabbit is going through a moult -- fur balls in rabbits can be deadly!).

But, if your pet rabbit gets dirty, you may need to clean it. Sometimes you may need to wash a rabbit's rear end if it gets sick and it becomes very dirty. Because rabbits are normally clean, when your rabbit is dirty, that's a big sign that something is wrong! In addition to cleaning it, you should bring it to the vet.

If you need to bathe your rabbit, see the related question below for details. Here's a summary: To wash your rabbit, first use the "dry bath" method. For this, you can use unscented baby cornstarch powder (this is NOT baby powder -- do not use anything with talc in it!). There are some dry powder shampoos made for cats that are okay to use, but they're more expensive than the cornstarch powder, which is available in most drugstores. Also, some of those pet dry shampoos are dangerous for rabbits (rabbits have very sensitive skin -- more so than cats). If the dry bath doesn't work, you may need to spot clean the dirty areas with a wash cloth. But total bathing is too stressful for rabbits. They were never meant to get completely wet like bathtime would demand. And NEVER immerse your whole rabbit in water. Some rabbits are fine with it, but others can die hours after a first bath because it's so traumatic for them. If the rabbit is older and has never had a bath, don't bathe them. If your rabbit is a bit stinky try cleaning his cage more often.

You don't. Bunnies groom themselves enough. Washing them with water cause unnecessary stress on them and they can become sick being wet. If you MUST wash off mud or dirt, rinse the area with warm water with no water and then dry them with a towel completely.

you shouldn't bathe your bunny unless it is realy dirty like covered in mud or it is soiled because if you do it will go into shock and may die. But if it is really dirty then you fill the tub about 1 inch no more, then you place a towel under the bunny so it has grip and you should always use light gentle soap.

Normally you don't need to bathe bunnies but if there is a good reason you can do it. I use very mild soap (same i use for my kid) and then dry them with a towel really really well. afterwards i even dry them with my hairdryer and most of them don't mind. (i run a bunny rescue and some bunnies i just HAVE TO bathe when i get them in)

You can buy some rabbits shampoo from your nearest pet store, then you follow the instructions on the packet. I've had a spray on one before, where you just spray it on and leave it. I've also had one when you have to get a bowl of water, place the rabbit into it, them put the shampoo on the rabbit, wash it off, then let the rabbit dry off - but rabbits aren't too keen on this idea. Rabbits are capable of washing on their own, but it's still best for them to be washed around twice a year, older rabbits will need more help with washing though.

Rabbits dont really need washing, they clean themselves. You could tell a rabbit is dirty by its little paws. You could clean them if you wanted to, but it might traumatise the rabbit. Although, here are some steps: * Fill a little tub up with about 5 inches of water (as it could drown your rabbit by it being to full) * Make sure the temperature is warm (especially on cold days) * gently bathe your rabbit with some water for about five minutes * put your rabbit back in its hutch (if you let your rabbit run in the dirt, it could get dirty again) * and then check the water for any signs of insects. Hope this helps :) By Tenny54

if your rabbits' feet are dirty, you don't need to wash them, that could make them sore and even make them vulnerable to certain diseases. instead, you need to let them run around on grass for a while. running on the grass scrapes away any poo, bedding or other unwanted problems. hope i helped.

Rabbits don't need to be cleaned, as they clean themselves. However, you can purchase shampoo for rabbits at petshops if you wish to wash them, although it is not absolutely necessary.
