A proper fraction is between 0 and 1. A proper fraction has the numerator less than the denominator. The numerator is the top number, and the denominator is the bottom number.

If the fraction has a numerator, which is half of the denominator, then it is half and anything with a numerator greater then half the denominator but not greater than the denominator is between 1/2 and 1.
