If your jewellery is starting to look too long then your piercing is shallow and starting to migrate and will at some point in time fall out of the piercing.

Is it possible to have too small a navel flap to get it pierced successfully?

It is possible, but actually rare. Even people that dont have a very defined navel "lip" can still get a navel piercing; it is what you call getting a shallow piercing, meaning there is not much skin to pierce through. I have seen successful healing with shallow piercings, and I have also seen some that are not so successful. Talk to your piercer about whether or not it is a good idea for you to get one.

How do you know if your piercing is too shallow?

If it looks like it's going to fall out chances are really good that it is too shallow. Go see a professional body piercer and you won't have that issue.

Why does your body reject a belly button piercing?

Its not just navel piercings that can reject, its all piercings! Its a risk you take when you get the piercing done. Your body simply sees the piercing as a bad thing and pushes it out, You can try again with the piercing but it is not recommended in the same place.

Could you put a belly bar into a tongue piercing hole?

No a navel banana bell is not designed nor intended to be used in a tongue piercing. Tongue piercings are done with a straight barbell, the curve in the navel bell will cause trouble with the tongue piercing as well as being too short.

Can navel piercing grow out?

definitely. Rejection can be caused by the piercer not placing the jewelry deep enough, improper aftercare or by wearing jewelry that is too heavy in the piercing.

Can a ten year old get a belly pierce?

Piercing the navel of anyone under the age of 15 is generally the call of the professional body piercer doing the piercing and is based on the level of development of the individual who is getting the piercing. Several things come in to play, maturity of the person getting pierced and the physical development of that person. Too often young girls who want there navel pierced just are not mature enough to look after the piercing to avoid infections, cross contamination and promote general good piercing health. This is a fact, it's not fiction. The last thing any professional body piercer wants to do is to preform a piercing on someone who clearly isn't smart enough or focused enough to look after the piercing. The next point is how developed is the navel, if the navel is too shallow due to the level of growth of the person wanting the piercing then the piercing will end up being too shallow and much more subject to irritation and infection from the irritation. It's best to wait a year and look at the navel after a year of growing has taken place. Rushing in to s piercing where the conditions are not right or conducive to proper healing is just a waste of time, money and effort. That's why professional body piercers reserve the right to refuse to pierce anyone they feel is not ready to look after or retain a piercing. So if you get sent away now you know what the reasons may be, so you are not too disappointed, it could simple just be a matter of time.

What happens if with your navel piercing has too much skin in which you cant fit a barbel in it?

What if the navel ring is going down in the navel piercing hole?

Well I am going to assume you have a navel gem or a bent barbell and the ball is sinking into the top hole of the piercing (this is because your question wasn't clear enough). That would be a sign that the piercing jewellery is too short for the piercing and you are going through some swelling. You should get into your local body piercing studio and have the jewellery changed as soon as possible, left unresolved this can cause serious issues for your piercing. All piercings discharge during the initial stages of healing, this discharge matter needs to be washed away daily so the piercing can heal. If the matter is left and not cleaned away the piercing can swell and become infected. Aftercare is a daily requirement and not an option, it needs to be done every day to maintain a health piercing. If the jewellery is too short it can block the entry and exit points of the piercing stopping the piercing discharge from draining and thus causing further complications to occur.
