How do you know that you have an expert staff ghost on Mario kart Wii?

Expert Staff Ghosts are Time Trial recordings set by Nintendo staff. There is one on each course. They are considerably harder to beat than the basic Staff Ghost.

The Expert Staff Ghost on any course is unlocked by beating a set time.

There are unlockables for unlocking a set number of Expert Staff Ghosts; you don't have to beat them to qualify for these.
