Because for all you know every bit of information on the internet could be falsified by some random person sitting at home in their room that got bored one day and said, "Hey, I think I'll mess up some peoples ideas of what is true today", and posts meaningless answers to peoples questions that they believe to be the correct answer.
Trusted sources must be used; websites ending in .gov or .edu can be trusted, but websites such as Wikipedia where anyone anywhere can edit information is not always reliable. Also, other sites such as .com or .net sites should probably be checked against other sites just to be more sure about the validity of the information. There are many lies on the internet; always watch out.
Because anyone can put anything on the Web. A ten-year-old could build a reasonably good looking website in ten minutes, and write about how unicorns really do exist today.
No one moderates the content on every website to ensure that it is accurate.
While books are not necessarily searched for any inaccuracy, publishers will refuse to publish something which is complete rubbish. Add to this the cost and time required for writings to be published, and you weed out a lot of obviously incorrect information.
The same way you know anything is true, you check the facts and do your research.
You should always check more than one source for important information.
Your a cheeky bugger aren't you! Heh hem. Half the time you probably can't , the rest of the time you probably can. There. Has that answered your question?
Oh yes! :-)
No, of course not.
Any idiot can set up a web page and put anything they wish to on it.

The Internet isn't a book -- it's a series of tubes. You can't believe anything you read on it.
How do you know if information you see online is true or factual?
Everything on the internet is real. Everything on the internet is true. You should believe everything you read and see on the internet.

You can't read it on the internet because of copyright laws.
She was writing it, till she gave it to some of her friends to read, and they proceeded to post what they got on the internet. This upset her so she stopped writing it. I believe you can find what her friend's posted somewhere on the internet if you wish to read it.
