You can consult O'Reilly's "Head First HTML with CSS and XHTML". There are many books on HTML out there, and I have gone through a lot of them, but I would suggest this one, because it does exactly what it says on the tin, that is, it assumes no prior knowledge of any mark-up language. Other books claim this too, though they don't succeed that much. The entire book is written interactively, to the point that you will really enjoy learning HTML, and explanation of each single question that might crop up is done so lucidly that you will fall in love with the series. Try it.

There is a huge amount it cannot do. It is only really for fomatting the look of your webpage. To get your page to do things, like process data, you need some programming. As HTML is not a programming language, it cannot do anything like that. HTML can put a button on your webpage but it can't make anything happen when you click it. So to make really good web pages that do things, you need a programming language to work with HTML.
I would recommend that you A) develop and understanding of HTML and B) learn javascript. It is a very easy language and there are a plethora of examples and good explanations of how to write it. Visual basic is a good language to learn as well, but with javascript all you need is a text editor and a web browser and you can practice on any computer.
hahaha, you dont. you create it. a simple HTML code can be made simply by using words that relate to it. for instance, if you want to center a text, simply go blaahblahblah and there you have it. also to make the text bold simply go whatever its as easy as that. but if you wanted to create a website of your own, you would have to learn some hightech HTML, take classes at school to learn about, or just search it over in google or youtube.the hard part is using it, but the easy part is learning it. good luck

Well, I've know HTML for about 2 years, and I find it easy now. When I was learning it, I found that I needed patience. HTML is not a very complex language -- compared to the various other programming languages -- therefore, making it easy to learn. In fact, it only took me about 3 weeks to learn it. You just need some patience. Chances are, if you learn HTML you will go on to learn the other web programming languages CSS, PHP, Javascript, etc. SO just keep on moving!
