its a valve to let the air out of the system
It is very possible that you have an air pocket in the heater core. Fill the radiator to the top and 1/2 fill the coolant recovery tank. Run the engine until the cooling fan comes on then let it cool down. Recheck the radiator and top it and the reservior off. It may take a couple of times to purge the air.
no air bleed valve. all you need to do is to remove the radiator cap and let the car idle for a few minutes.
Bleeding a radiator means to let out any air that could be trapped inside the radiator. The first step is to turn on the heating of your home to get the radiators hot so one could tell which radiators contain air. Next would be to bleed the radiator for air and then check the pressure.
What I did was let the engine cool down then open the radiator cap and turn on the engine. Let the engine idle for about 10-15 min to make sure it had circulated the coolant. Between those 15 min you should see bubbles and that's bleeding the radiator you're removing the air, and this is how I did it because after a radiator flush I left the engine off when I poured the new antifreeze and it was over heating but now that a let the air out it's much better.
On the top left hand side of the radiator there is a square screw-in plug with a Philips head. Take it out while filling the radiator to let the trapped air out.
It's possible you'd need to purge the air in the system. Easiest way is to start the car and turn the heater to the hottest setting. Let the car run until fully warm with the radiator cap off. Let the car cool completely off and top off the coolant. Depending on how low the system is you may need to do this a couple of times.
squeeze bottom hose, undo bleed valve on right hand side of radiator to let air out
open the plug (screw) at the bottom of the radiator, open the radiator cap and let the system slowly gravity bleed while pouring more fluid into the radiator. do this with vehicle off.
Where the hose comes from your radiator all the way to your thermostat, you'll see a screm on the top of your thermostat. Fill your radiator, put radiator cap back on. Turn on engine and let it run for about 5 minutes. Then open screw to let accumulated air out of the thermo chamber. Air in there will cause the thermo to not function properly causing overheating. Do this until all air is out and nothing but water shoots out. That's it.
There should be a radiator drain plug on the bottom corner of the radiator. (varies on which side) You'll probably have to remove some of the plastic skid plates on the bottom to get at it. Or if you want, just remove the lower radiator hose from the radiator and let it drain that way. To bleed a cooling system means to purge air out of it. Just take the radiator cap off and let it run for a short time. the excess air will come out.You may have to replace coolant .
take radiator cap off, make sure radiator is full, start the engine let it water circulate for awhile and then open radiator drain slightly just enough to get water and air to come out, drain is located under the radiator. Careful not to burn your hand.Turn off radiator drain and replace radiator cap.
