use a closed end open end wrench 16mm. Put the closed end on the bolt in the center of the pulley.Cupple a larger wrench boxed end to the open of the wrench on the pulley. Be carefull that your wrenches are in line with and push in a straight down motion. Then slip the belt off the alternator pulley.
that should be a 15mm wrench
there should be a hole on the tensioner bar that fits a 3/8 ratchet. using the ratchet rotate the bar counter-clockwise(on a 2000 mustang) to loosen the belt.
The pulley bellow the alternator is the tensioner. Rotate it with a 15mm to loosen belt.
loosen the serpretine belt tension and remove the two bolt that hold the alternator
Using a 14 mm wrench, loosen the bolt in the center of the tensioner pulley, then tighten the tensioner bolt with the same wrench. Then re-tighten the bolt in the center of the tensioner pulley when the belt is tightened to your liking.
No, just loosen the nut on the back with a 15mm wrench. No, just loosen the nut on the back with a 15mm wrench.
How do you install a radiator in a 1998 ford contour?"
If it's the timing belt tensioner then you have to loosen the tensioner bolt and then use a 1/4 inch hex bit and turn the tensioner clock wise. Be sure to turn the tensioner only counter clockwise to retension and align the 2 pointers. The alternator or serpentine belt tensioner requires a 13 mm wrench to turn the tensioner counter clockwise to release the tension.
The keys on the 1998 Ford Contour are NOT chipped
where is egr valve on 1998 ford contour
The battery is the main power supply of the 1998 Ford contour.
I have used a socket with a ratchet handle. The ratchet will allow you to get more travel to move the pulley and get the belt off.
"How do you move the idle tensioner for a 1998 3 litre dodge?"
yes it will fit
I have a 1998 Ford Contour with 6 cylinders 2.5L and they are 32 mm.
5W-30 ( according to the 1998 Ford Contour Owner Guide )
Yes, it shouldn't be a problem.
The bolt has left-hand threads, and requires a lot of torque. Turn counter-clock-wise to loosen/remove the serpentine belt, then use a cheater-bar on your wrench to loosen the pulley-bolt (turning clock-wise).
No, a 1996 hood will not fit a 1998 because the hood goes around the headlights on each car that are different.
Use a 1/2" socket wrench. From underneath the truck, put the 1/2" drive into the front of the tensioner pulley and rotate the tensioner in a downward direction to loosen the tension. If you want to remove the serpentine belt, slide the belt off one of the pulleys with your other hand. Be careful not to get your finger caught in between the belt and the pulley if the tensioner moves back up. If you have a second person to help, have them slide the belt off the alternator pulley from the top side.
The Ford Contour was produced from the years 1995 to 2000. The front pump transmission seal in a 1998 Ford Contour is located very close to the camshaft.
According to the ( 1998 ) Ford Contour Owner Guide : ( it is 179.4 inches in length )
the tensionjer is a spring tensioner so if it is to low and not holding tension on the belt you need a new tensioner
