Can you use a stolen iPhone 4?

That depends on what the phone company does on being told it's stolen. If they simply disconnect the phone from their network - it's possible for it to be used on another network. HOWEVER - if they block the IMEI number (which is unique to EVERY mobile device) - the phone cannot be used on ANY network - nor can it be unlocked, or the block removed.

How can you know if a cellular telephone is stolen?

The cellular telephone industry has something called the "Bandit list." This is an industry term for a list of ESNs of cellular telephones that have been reported stolen. If you copy the ESN of a used cell phone you are considering buying, and check with any cellular provider to see if it is on the Bandit list, they can tell you yes or no.

Can you find stolen items from Craig list with a phone number?

How do you know if the phone you have has been reported stolen?

Every cell phone sold in the US since the eary '80's has what is called an ESN (Electronic Serial Number). This is used in programing the phone to the system on which it runs (the provider). If the phone you have was stolen, in theory, it would not be possible for you to connect to any provider in the US. Mistakes happen though. If you are turly curious, you can contact any service provider and ask them to check the "Bandit List." This is an industry term for the national list of stolen phone ESN's. If your phone was stolen and reported, its ESN will be on that list.

If your car was stolen and totaled can the bank list it as a repossession and make you continue to pay insurance on it?

IF the car was stolen, reported as stolen to the cops, the ins. should be paying the loan off. IF the ins. co. does not think the car is stolen, they wont pay and its as if the car was NOT stolen. So, you have to pay notes and insurance on the collateral. Bottom line??? HELP the ins. prove it was stolen and the problem will go away. MERRY CHRISTMAS.

Can you activate a stolen prepaid phone?

Not if the loss or theft was reported to Sprint. Cellular carriers, including Sprint, maintain a list of the serial numbers of devices that have been activated on their systems. (Actually, they have the serial-number ranges of all the devices made for operation on their systems.) All cellular activations, whether at a company store, a kiosk, a reseller, online, or over the phone, are processed through the carrier's computer-based activation system, which has access to all these serial numbers. The carriers will not activate service for one person on a device that belongs to another. There is little point in attempting to activate a lost or stolen phone, since second-hand phones are inexpensive. Most customers on contract plans get a new device every two years or so, so there are millions of unused phones out there to be had. And for signing up on a new 2-year contract, the carrier will give you a phone for "free." ("Free" meaning in exchange for your agreement to pay a set monthly plan cost for 2 years or pay a substantial penalty for an early termination.)

Can a leased vehicle be reported as stolen for nonpayment?

Yes. If the person who is on the lease actively attempts to leave the state or region of the country AND it is proven they attempted to HIDE the vehicle, then some states allow the owner of the asset to declare it as stolen and it may be on the BOLO list for police in your new local area.

Can you buy a used phone and activate it?

Yes you can but it must be properly checked to make sure that it is not reported lost or stolen. I went to a really good place when I was in Michigan city, Indiana the are called Cell Stop. They ran a check on the phone that I had and it only took a couple of minutes, it was on a lost and stolen list. This is what they had to say..Once it is on the lost and stolen list also known as the black list it becomes locked out of the network permanently! only if it is lost or stolen... Now If the phone you purchased has a over due or past due amount attached to it and the phone has been paid for. Then the remainder of the bill must be paid in full to release it, but it can be released. Another one was this..if the person or persons that you purchased the phone from broke their contract with the service provider ( 2 year agreement ) and the phone is not paid for in full then the phone also becomes locked out permanently until both the phone and the outstanding amount are paid in full. This is just a little tid bit for anyone out there. If your signing up on a contract and you purchase a really nice smart phone through a company for only $99.00 or $199.00, we'll folks ALWAYS READ THE FINE PRINT. That is only the down payment for the next two years. So buyer beware when buying a used phone from pawn shops, ( because most of the time they don't have that information ) people off the streets, adds in the newspapers. Take my advice and GO to a place that deals in new and used cellular phones, you will thank yourself for it!

What can you do if a car you purchased turned out to be listed as a stolen vehicle at the time of the sale?

Did you get a TITLE to the "stolen" car? If not, the you sorta assumed the risks. Was it actually stolen at the time of sale or just not removed from the list after being recovered?
