3 ways 1. Make a duo/tri/quad tone under image>mode>duotone 2. Make you color scale RGB. (image>mode>RGB) then go to image>adjustments>hue/saturation, check colorize in the pop up window (bottom right) adjust sliders to desired color. 3. If you wan to get fancy you can actually paint color onto a pic. Change image mode to RGB. Make new layers, one for each color used, over the picture and begin to paint. Set the layer style from normal to color. This is tricky but once you get the hang of it can be done really nice. hope this helps.

I like to use the Channel Mixer to convert my images to black and white in Photoshop. To do this, select New Adjustment Layer in the Layer pulldown menu, then select Channel Mixer. Change the numbers to 44 Red, 33 Green and 30 Blue. You must also select Monochrome at the bottom left corner of the menu.

An easier way to do so is to go to Image>Adjustments>Desaturate, one more way would be to Image>Adjustments>Hue/Saturation and drag the "saturation" bar to the left.

The following should work in most versions of Photoshop. (All that I have used.)

The easier way to accomplish this is to make the entire photo one color scheme. (This makes all the colors in the photo, range from; white, one selected color, to black).

To do this, have your image open in Photoshop. Create a new layer. Select what color you'd like to make the image, in your color menu. Go to Edit>Fill A window will pop up. (Use: Foreground Color, Blending Normal, Opacity: 100%) Then press okay. The canvas will turn completely that color. In your layer's menu, there is a drop-down menu that currently says "Normal" change this to either Overlay, Screen, or Multiply. Depending on the lighting in the picture one will look better.

What you're probably looking to turn the picture to a modern color photo, this is more difficult, but possible. It's done in a similar way, but instead of filling the entire canvas with a color, make a selection (The dotted lines or marching ants found in most drawing programs) with the magnetic lasso (found by clicking and holding the normal lasso tool and selecting the one labeled "magnetic lasso").

Learn to use the tool through a tutorial if you need more help.

Again, on a new layer fill with the desired color, change the blending mode (see first link) to Overlay, Multiply, or Screen. Continue with different colors until desired amount is colored.

You have to create two layers. Copy and paste the part you want to keep in color on the upper layer. Transform the bottom layer to b&w and you have your image.

How do you make everything in a picture black and white besides a particular part the picture?

You first need to create a "mask" (Photoshop has a special name for these that I don't recall at this moment). Then using the mask you can tell Photoshop to convert the unmasked portion of the photo from color to black and white.

How do you change a color photo to Black and white and leave one color?

One of the most effective ways to do this would be with the use of Layers. If you have the Original photo in colour you would open the colour version of that image in Photoshop.Select the section you wish to keep in colour - This can be done in a series of ways and is down to personal preference. You can use the Polygonal Lasso Tool, the Pen Tool (Draw around selection. BACK-click and 'Create selection'. Magic Wand Tool or the Marquee tools.Once you have the Selection selected, Copy and Paste the selection into a new Layer. Make sure you have the layer below highlighted now (The background Layer). Image>Adjustments>Desaturate. This'll cause the background Photo to now be in black and white, you can also adjust the contrast of the Layer by going to Image>Adjustments>Brightness/Contrast...At this stage you should have a black and white Photo with the selection (In the layer above) that you wanted in colour. You can experiment with different tools to fade the colour into the black and white so that the edges of the top Layer aren't sharp edges.Different tools you can use to blur out the colour into the black and white around the edges are - the smudge tool set to a low Opacity, the Blur tool or the Eraser toolwith a blurred brush or/and low opacity.Woolah. Done.
