How do you get your pet gerbil to like you?

ermmm, well gerbils are quite hyper animals anyway, and dont really tend to 'like' people. But I can now get my gerbil to sleep in my hand and do obstacle courses. It kinda depends on their personality, for example i have a gerbil who i have hand fed loads, and she is still completely mad, but the other one a lot more friendly and calm.

• Basically hold them as much as possible, but show your the boss, if you don't want it to something, dont let it (dont be violent lol). The more you hold it, the tamer it will get.
• Try giving it treats like milk/ chocolate drops from time to time (make sure you buy them from a pet shop).
• They love being allowed to run, so put them in a bath tub (plug closed) or a ball and when it wants to get out, take it out, then it should be a bit calmer.
• They will get calmer as they get older.

All my ferrets used to bite, at first handle them with heavy duty gloves on until they get used to being handled. NEVER smack them, handle them as much as possible and be very nice to them. If they persist in biting, the only punishment should be being put back in the cage for a time.
