Inferences are based on what you know, then inferring what is not stated or shown. Inferences can be right or wrong, but even wrong inferences teach students to do better inferring in the future.
In a movie, the character George is driving a Corvet. As he rounds the corner, he sees an accident. A car is stopped in the road. George sees the legs of a body lying on the ground in front of the car, which has a crumpled fender.
Inferences:
1. It takes lots of money to buy a Corvet; someone is rich.
2. The car in the street likely hit a pedestrian.
Continuing....
As George sits in the car, waiting for the police to let him through, someone calls out "Preppie", to mean George is rich. George seethes at this. Instead of being a rich preppie, rich men hire George to drive their cars one time a month. George would never have enough money himself to own anything expensive.
Inferences:
1. You might infer or guess that he does not own a house, or rent a nice apartment.
2. Temporarily, based on his anger, you might infer he lives quite below his employers' standard of living.
Continuing...
George realizes he knows the driver who hit the pedestrian! The man also notices George, and comes over to speak to George. The man speaks in hushed tones, offering George $50,000. But George does not want to do what is being asked!
1. Maybe the man is one of George's rich employers.
2. Maybe the man offered the money so George would say he saw the accident.
3. Maybe the man wanted George to trade places with him / the car.
etc.
An inference is an educated guess based on given knowledge. For example, if you're reading a story and the setting is rainy, then you can make an inference that the sky is gray and cloudy.
it means by being stupid
to make an inference = to infer = inferir
no because how can you make an inference without making an observation
inference
Since cows are grazers and eat mostly grasses and legumes, they are herbivores. That's as good an inference about what cows eat as anyone would be able to come up with.
make a conclusion
An inference is a guess you could make based on what you found out reading or etc...
I searched for the word inference in my dictionary that I bought yesterday.
an implication
First you observe, then you "inference".If no observation is made you can not make an inference. You observe both the movie and the language but in order to tell good from bad you "inference".When you claim the movie is good and/or claim the language could be better, then you have applied some sort of thoughts to your observations and that is an Inference.Short answer. It should be considered an inference. It would commonly be considered an observation, but I beg to differ :-)Regards.
It means to draw a conclusion.
