How do you make bricks in Minecraft?

First, you will need to collect clay from swamps or rivers using any kind of shovel. Clay blocks are light gray and make a gravel sound when stepped on or hit. When you collect some clay, smelt them into a furnace to turn them into a Brick. Gathering about at least four, you can take them to the Crafting Table or use the four slots in your inventory to craft them into Bricks. Just simply make a small square (filling up the four slots in the inventory) and it'll make them into one Bricks block.

To "put" the item:

click it in the inventory to pick it up, than click anywhere else in the inventory to "put" it there.

To "put" the block:

Right click on the surface you want to "put" it on while holding it.
