Depends on the candle I suppose. Way back in the old days, candles were made of beeswax. A wick would be dipped in hot beeswax repeatedly until the candle was of substantial size.

Paraffin wax is used today. Please let me add a cotton wick that must pass all the way through so you have something to light. You can also add scented oils and wax colorants. If you want to get tricky, you can put brightly colored leaves and small decorative sticks in the candle. Beware of glass beads and marbles as the can explode if heated.

First you start out by buying all Candle Making Supplies.

You will need:

Wax, candle dyes (used to color candles), wicks, jars/containers, Fragrance oils used to scent your candles, and pouring pot used to mix all of the ingredients.

Heat Your wax to the correct temperature. Wick your jar using the correct size wicks. Add color and the fragrance oil ( to be added in a proper temperature if you pour it in while the wax is still too hot , the scent will burn off) to your candle and then pour at the correct pouring temperature.

Fragrance oils are used to make candles have their scent and smell.

You purchase you some fragrance oils that are used to make candles.

There are so many scents you can choose from.

You will need to purchase wax, wicks, fragrance oils and a few other supplies to make your candles in.

While melting your wax you then would want to pour your fragrance oil in the wax and mix well. That is what makes a candle have their scent.

you need to melt some parafin wax. there are a couple of methods here. first you can take a string and dip it in and out of the parafin wax, which will eventually form a candle. the second method is to pour the melted wax into a can or something, and putting a stirng in the middle. you then let the can of wax cool. once cooled, open the can at the other end, and heat up the sides to remove the can...leaving a candle behind. parafin wax can be found at your local gorgery store.

The basics steps to making a candle are to place a wick in a mold and then fill the mold with wax. When the wax cools, the candle is done and can be removed.

What candle burns out first an oil candle or a wax candle?

Generally more energy is in a solid versus a liquid, so a wax candle will have more energy than an oil based candle which means the solid wax candle will burn out last over the oil one. Actually, I can't think of a case where the reverse is true. And btw, wax candle has around 42 kJ/g with oil candle being around ~30 kJ/g (type of oil will make a difference here). tho' i agree with most of the above, the most important part of any candle is the oil/oil byproduct/animal fat or beeswax that it is made from! a wax candle will NOT burn until it heats up enough to dissolve into an oil - which occurs between 140-160 degrees! therefore, an oil candle and a wax candle burn out at the same time!
