### How do you measure walls of a room in square footage?

The length times the height of the wall will give you the square
footage of that wall. Do that for both the long and short walls,
and multiply the result by two. If the room is square, just measure
one wall, find the square footage, and multiply by four. Don't
forget to measure the length and height of any doors and windows,
and subtract the total from the area of the walls.

### Could you work out the square footage of three room for me i need to buy flooring to go throughout 1st room 14.58x10.41 2nd room 8.08x14.58 3rd room 8.4x7.5?

You can find the square footage of a room by multiplying the
length by the width. For example, room 1 is 14-1/2 by 10-1/2 which
is 152-1/4 square feet. For most flooring jobs, you will want to
add at least 10% for waste. If I were buying tile or laminate for
the first room I would want at least168 square feet.
Since it sounds like you are running all the flooring together,
you can find the sq. footage of each room, add them and multiply
the total by 1.1 to get the sq. footage with waste. Running the
flooring into other rooms can increase the amount of waste, because
you will orient the flooring to favor the large room, which may not
be the best way to orient it in the smaller rooms.

### How do you find square footage in an irregular room?

If it is such that you cannot break it into squares, one main
square with others attached. Measure each space and add them
together. Measure the outside walls and get the perimeter. This
will give you a figure Say a total of 48 feet. Treat that like it
was the measurement of a square room. Divide that by 4, you get 12.
A square room 12 feet to a side. 1 width times 1 length give you
the square footage. 12x12=144. The perimeter is the same on a
square room or a star if is the same length, it is going to enclose
the same square footage.
