One of the two scales goes UP from 0 to 180, the other goes DOWN from 180 to 0. You use the scale woThe angle made by the base line is 0 so you use thehich shows 0 degrees for the base line of the angle. The base line is the one that was lined up with the protractor's diameter.

There is no way to draw a triangle using a protractor that cannot be done more simply using only a straightedge.

However, you can make an equilateral triangle by first drawing a straight line, measuring a 60 degree angle from each end, and drawing two more lines until they meet.
