Motsenbacker Graffiti Remover will do a nice job. The varnish will probably need some touch up afterward. The graffiti remover comes in several different formulas so try to select the one that matches your ink stain. I have found that #2 works well for most things a teacher deals with as far as writing on desks, cabinets, etc.
