On the key boot or the key remote, press the round button located above the rectangle blue button used for unlocking the trunk. The round button might have an open lock picture. Mine has worn off. Press once for driver's side. Press twice for the passenger's side. The button above the red rectangle (horn) will lock all of the doors. It may have a closed lock picture. That's how it works for my 2002 Focus.

However, once open, it can only be closed by locking the door and pulling it shut. This wasn't a huge problem because I could simply open the driver side door and open it from the inside. to open, use WD40...or a crowbar You will more than likely have to remove the inside door panel to get to the latch mechanism and find the problem of the latch does not work. No crowbar!!!!
