Shift up to third position. Put your first finger on high D and your third finger on high B on the D string.
On what instrument? On the violin it is the 3rd finger on the A string. The A string is the 2nd string from the right. =)
There are many A's on a violin. They can be played first finger on the G string, open on the A string, and third finger on the E string. If you want to play even higher A's, you can go in third, fourth, fifth, sixth, and so on poistions.
You put your 3rd finger on the A string. It is an octave higher than the open D string.
In first posistion, 4th pinky on the g string, d string, and 3rd finger on the a string.
You can play an open E string (the string on the far right), or a first finger on the D string (second string from the left). A flat can be played with an extended third finger on the D string or the first finger pulled back on the G string (string on the far left). To play E flat, it is an extended third finger on the A string (second string from the right) or pulled back first finger on the D string.
3rd finger on the G-string, and the 2nd half-step finger on the A-string. You would have to go in fourth position to play the third C on the E-string.
Low 3rd finger
the G string plays the note C (third finger in first position) and so does the A string (third finger in first position)
I presume you mean how do you play the note G? Simply play the lowest string (the one furthest to the left). If you want a higher one try 3rd finger on the D (the one to the right of G) string or 2nd finger on E string (the rightmost string).
The strings on the bass violin are tuned in the reverse order of the violin. They are E, A, D, G, with the E and octave below the low E on the guitar. They are tuned in fourths. Otherwise the distance between the notes would be too long to reach. They use the bass cleft but the notes are played an octave lower. Even then ledger lines are required. Sometimes there is a fifth string used on a classical bass violin. It is tuned even lower depending on the music.
I have two different teachers saying two different things, but this is what the better one says: Bounce the bow on the string, making sure you hit all three notes. Sometimes it's a little difficult to get the bottom note, too, so just work at it a little. Hope this helps! (:
The Viola has a lower pitch than the violinbecause of its lower-pitched string (the "C" string) compared to the violin's much higher-pitched string (the "E" string).
