How do you play race track rummy?

7 cards are dealt to each player. the aim of the game is to either get a straight run of cards of the same suit or get 3 of one and 4 of another e.g 4 6's and 3 4's or a run of 3 or 4 in the same suit or a mix of both. The 1st player picks up a card from the deck, if they need it, they pick it up and put down one which they do not need, facing up next to the deck. If the next player needs the card that you just put down then they can pick it up. If you pick up a card which you do not need then you put down again in the pile next to the pack facing up. :)

500 the card game? It is a little similar to Bridge...

It is most commonly played with 4 players, in partnerships.

2s, 3s and black 4s are removed, and 1 joker is placed in the deck.

The Joker is the highest card, followed by the Jack of the trump suit, the Jack of the same colour, then Ace, King, Queen...

So if you were playing Clubs the highest cards (in descending order) would be:

- Joker (this is always the highest)

- Jack of Clubs

- Jack of Spades

- Ace of Clubs

- King of Clubs

Each player begins with 10 cards. They arrange these in suits, being careful not to show any other players their cards. The aim of the game is to win as many "tricks" or rounds as possible.

Each round, the players take it in turns to place one card face up on the table. The highest card wins, then that player gets to lead (place the next card down).

You must follow suit, so if someone leads with a diamond - you must play a diamond if you have one. If you don't, you can play any card you wish, including a trump card.

The trump suit beats other suits. The trump changes each round, depending on who called at the beginning.

500 is great fun once you get the hang of it - but it is much easier to learn in person, rather than reading the rules online ;)

I believe that rummy is one of those games that everyone plays slightly differently. In our family it goes like this:

1. Shuffle the deck of cards. You can include jokers or not.

2. Deal 7 cards to each player.

3. Put the rest of the deck face down in the centre of the table with the top card face up next to it.

4. The object of the game is to collect a set of four and a set of 3. Sets may be cards of the same face value, or consecutive numbers in the same suit. (We play ace can be high or low, but we can't run through it.)

5. Eldest hand goes first. (player on dealer's left).

6. They can pick up either the exposed card or the blind one from the top of the pile.

7. They can discard the card to the face-up pile or retain it in their hand. If they retain it they choose another of their cards to put on the face-up pile.

8. The next player does the same.

9. Play continues until someone completes 2 sets, and declares rummy. They win.

It's always best to check through the rules before playing with a new group. Many variations don't matter, as long as everyone agrees to them.

You play Rummy O just as you do Rummy. Instead of using a deck of cards in when Rummy, in Rummy O, you use the tiles.
