NEVER hit or shout at your dog because it will confuse your dog. The dog should have been trained from the time it was a puppy. Take the dog for a walk where they can go potty and when they do make a big deal out of it. Then be sure they get to go outside if you live at home. Go outside with the dog and always be sure to praise it when it's done it's business. Dogs are extremely smart and will learn quickly with praise and love.

Additional Answer

I always keep a big newspaper on my hallway floor by the laundry room if my husband and I feel we will be out later than usual as I don't like my pets to go more that 4 - 5 hours without going to the bathroom. This way they can also go on the paper and it's easily cleaned up.

Another Answer

Simply put a indoor dog potty where you wish for your pet to do their doings. When your pet pees on the grass top the liquid drains through openings that collect the urin in a container inside the training dog potty.

· (Please keep in mind that it is highly recommended that you should train your dog while it is still a puppy, as this will resault MUCH EASIER for both the owner and the dog.) 1. Choose the spot outside where you would like your puppy to go to the toilet. # Keep your puppy/dog in his/her crate, pen area or even tethered to a chair where you are working. Your puppy cannot have free run of the house at this early stage. Every 60 minutes, take your puppy straight to the designated toilet area outside. You should also take your puppy after mealtimes or snacks, and after playing, running or having fun. Watch out for signs from your puppy that tell you he needs to go, such as sniffing and walking around a lot, or whining. Puppies usually need to pee more than adult dogs, as they are still growing. Carry your puppy/dog, or walk out on leash. # When you reach the toilet area, walk back and forth or circle around and around. At the same time say and repeat a cue word you would like to attach to the act of your dog eliminating. I use "hurry up" but just pick out a cue word or short phrase and stick with it. In your dogs mind you are building an association between the cue "hurry up!" and him emptying out, so this is a really important role in the potty-training of your dog. This is the first obedience training command you will teach your young pup. # If your pup does eliminate continue to repeat your cue word and the instant your dog finishes doing his business enthusiastically praise and reward him with a small tasty treat. Make it clear that you are very happy with him and that he is the "best little puppy on the block!". If after 3-4 minutes of circling around your puppy shows no signs of needing to eliminate, take him back inside (put in crate or pen) and try again in about twenty minutes. # Immediately after a successful toilet trip outside you can allow your puppy some free play time (under supervision) in the house. Just spend some time enjoying the company of your puppy, then place him back in his crate or pen area. # Continue with this 60 minute puppy potty training schedule, you'll be rewarded for sticking to it. Do not feed your puppy close to bedtime and take away his water before you go to bed (don't forget to put it back first thing in the morning). You'll need to set your alarm clock to go off once and possibly twice throughout the night. This is an important step, just take your puppy out to the toilet area as usual and then hop back into bed. When your puppy is young it is physically impossible for him to hold on all night, but before long you will both be sleeping peacefully right through the night

Use a Dog Training kennel. Make sure they have enough room to stand, and make a full 360 without bumping into anything. Let them sleep in their training kennel and take them for walks regularly. Dogs do not want to use the bathroom near their sleeping area. Once they get use to going outside, they wont be making messes inside anymore.
Take your puppy outside for a bathroom break every 15 to 20 minutes during the day and plan a middle-of-the-night potty run. If they do their duty, give them some sort of dog treat.

Be consistent in this routine.

goodluck and be patient!
well take them out every 20-30 minutes when they go to the restroom outside you tell them good.when they go in the house smack em on the head and say no. and take him outside when he or she signals you like sitting by the door.trust me i have a male puppy named Jasper well............... happy to help:]

Potty training a dog is a long process, but once they get it, it's easy!

Here's how we trained ours:

Of course, your dog will pee in the house at first, and this is normal. But you want to make sure you are addressing this problem right away. When your dog pees in the house, make sure you make them know it's a bad thing. You do not want to scold them long after they do it; they will not understand why you don't like their behavior. You want to do it shortly after or while they are doing it. Right after they do it you want to bring them outside to a spot that you have designated for a bathroom spot for your dog. Wait outside for a couple minutes, even if they don't go. You should bring them outside on a leash, and keep them in the same area. Go inside and let them off their leash, and keep doing this process every time they pee in the house. If they want to go outside, then take them out, and if they pee, reward them with a treat. Soon they will understand that you do not want them to pee in the house, and they will want to go outside every time. For our dog, we bought a doggy door to make it easier so we didn't have to take her out every time. I wouldn't suggest a doggy door for a very small dog.

Good luck!
Potty training a toy dog is almost similar to potty training other dog breeds. You need patience and show the dog that you are the leader. According to trainpetdog website: "Put his leash on him when you take him out and always take him to the same area. Always use a word such as "business" to let him know what you want him to do. Stand still and hold the end of the leash so he cannot investigate the entire area but is limited to a specific part. And do not let him play until he has pottied."

its called crate training and it means to let your dog outside before you put it in its kennel, that way it wont "go" in its bed then when you take it out of its kennel in the morning let it go outside again, do the same thing when you go out of the house; this works because dogs dont like to have to sleep in their own crap, and it is in too small of a space to not lay down in it, so they wont go in their kennel as long as they have a chance to go before and after it is in there. if it does go, it will learn its lesson and will go outside next time.

You either take them for a walk outside, or, if they are small, you can train them to use a litter box or something like it.

First of all you cant MAKE an animal go to the bathroom. They have to have to

The best thing to do is to get some bells to hang on your door knob. When it looks like the puppy has to go to the bathroom, get two treats and put them in your pocket (hurry!). Then, take her/him to your door, ring the bells with his/her paw. Then, open the door and lead him/her to the ground and tell him/her to go potty. When he/her goes poop or pee, give him/her a treat. Do it quick, because if you do it later, the puppy won't know why you gave him/her the treat.

If the puppy goes to the bathroom inside the house, rub his/her nose (just a little) in the mess, and give him/her a little spank and say no. Then, ring the bells with his/her paw and take him/her outside and tell him/her, 'Go potty out here!' Keep him/her out for a little bit. If he/she goes, then you must not give them a treat, because they'll think they were rewarded for going inside the house and therefore go more inside.

When i was training my dog I kept him in his cage at night and while away for the day and then let him outside for a half an hour or so to let him do his business. If he did mess in the floor he would get in trouble and be put in his cage. He was rather easy to break because he is Malteese. A lot of the time how easy it is to potty train depends on the breed.

I hope this helped!

To help potty train a puppy you need patience. Make sure when you leave he has a crate. Take him out in the morning, after meals and before bed. If he makes a mistake scold him but do not hit him. Get a can with pennies and shake at him if you see him start to go in the wrong place then put him out.

How do you potty train pups?

To successfully potty train puppies, maintain a regular feeding schedule. Be sure to take them outside every hour and after meals. Recognize the puppies' behavior before they need to eliminate and take them out then. Bring your pets a lot of rewards and praise when they eliminate outside. Find a location for that process and stay with that spot. As well, develop a signal to stop possible accidents from happening, such as a whistle, a snap of a finger or clapping.
