The chickenpox vaccine is the best way to prevent chickenpox. The chickenpox vaccine is recommended for :

· Young children. Children between 12 months and 12 years should receive two doses of the chickenpox vaccine.

· Unvaccinated older children. Children ages 7 to 12 years who haven't been vaccinated should receive two catch-up doses of the chickenpox vaccine, given at least three months apart. Children age 13 or older who haven't been vaccinated should also receive two catch-up doses of the vaccine, given at least four weeks apart.

· Unvaccinated adults who've never had chickenpox .Adults who've never had chickenpox or been vaccinated usually receive two doses of the vaccine, four to eight weeks apart. If you don't remember whether you've had chickenpox or the vaccine, a blood test can determine your immunity.

The best way to prevent chickenpox is with varicella vaccine. To prevent herpes, avoid having sex until you know about your partner's STD status. Use condoms whenever you have sex. Understand that herpes may be transmitted even when using condoms, can be transmitted even when the infected person isn't having symptoms, and can be transmitted from oral sex.

Children with chicken pox should not scratch the sores, especially after they open and ooze fluid. Distraction often helps to prevent scratching. Some very young children are helped by wearing gloves, especially at night. Scratching can introduce a secondary skin infection, cause scarring, and can spread the virus.

Children should be encouraged to rest, especially the first few days. The child should stay at home, and not be taken into public places. Children out in the public who have not had chicken pox yet can be infected from a child who is not kept at home. Chicken pox is highly contagious to anyone (usually babies/children) who have not had chicken pox yet.

You usually do not get chicken pox in infants. They are protected by the antibodies from the mother. Chicken pox is a very mild disease in young children and you do not need to prevent the same usually.

Immediate immunization of all non-immune family members, strict handwashing, cough hygiene, and isolating the sick patient and limiting the number of family members in direct contact can all reduce the risk of spreading chickenpox to others in the family. However, chickenpox is highly contagious, and normally 90% of family members get infected.

How do you stop chickenpox instantly?

You cannot stop chickenpox instantly, you just have to wait. See, the bumps from chickenpox actually protect your body from harmful bacteria in your body. There is a fight going on in your body between the anitbodies and bad germs. When the anitbodies win, the bumps go away. So be patient, think of it as a war, because you can't control when wars end. But if you feel the chickenpox lasted to long, check up with the doctor immediately.
