Muriatic acid reacts with cement, concrete, and limestone. It may not be suitable for removing an oil based or water based sealer from these products. If you know what type of sealer it was, contact the manufacturer for information.

Can you put epoxy concrete sealer over acrylic sealer?

Of course you can. You can also scribble a mustache under the nose of a Picasso painting and use dirt as a condiment for your hotdog but none of these are good ideas. The question isn't one of whether or not it can be done but, what the chances of long-term adhesion are between the acrylic sealer and the epoxy coating. As far as the two materials are concerned, it's really a pretty generic question because both epoxy coatings and acrylic sealers come in a multitude of different varieties and formulations. So, the answer will have to be equally generic.First and foremost, any run-of-the-mill epoxy (bis-A, bis-F, novolac, water, solvent or 100% solids, etc.) will adhere, to one degree or another, to a clean, contaminant-free polymer treated surface as long as the formulation, mixing and application are done correctly. The chances of a higher rate of adhesion increase when a profiled surface (increased surface area) is available. However, in the same way that a concrete foundation designed and poured to support a single-story residential home isn't well suited to support the weight and movement dynamics of a ten story building, a single-component acrylic sealer isn't well suited to act as the foundation for a two-component crosslinking epoxy. The long and the short of why this is true is simple:Acrylic sealers typically have a solids content of between 20-30%.This means that once the carrier (which is usually water or solvent), that makes up the counterpart to the solids content (70-80%) has evaporated, the solids are what remain on the surface as the dried sealer. When examined microscopically, the solid particles appear as individual and independent specks.Conversely, all two-component epoxies crosslink forming carbon chains, which make the epoxy coating a single sheet (like a roll of plastic) once it's cured. When exposed to enough stress (think foot or wheeled traffic) the individual solid acrylic particles can act as an epoxy bond breaker because they inhibit the epoxy coating from making full contact with the surface that it's intended to protect. In summary, although it's not recommended and assuming the sealer is in tact, if an epoxy is going to be used to coat an existing acrylic sealer (for whatever reason), it would be best to use either a 100% solids or a water-based epoxy to avoid any possible attack from an epoxy containing solvent. With all this said, the best approach is to fully strip and eliminate the sealer so that the epoxy coating can have access to a well prepared, open and porous surface.

How can you dye the natural stone?

A decorative dye colorant for use on various types of natural stone, such as granite, marble, limestone, and soapstone. The colorant is formed by mixing a solvent soluble dye with a suitable solvent, such as a ketone or an alcohol to form a dye solution. The solvent enables the dye to penetrate easily into the pores or openings located in the surface of the stone to color the stone so as not to mar the appearance of the surface of the stone. The dye is resistant to removal or discoloration, but may be removed by extended contact of certain chemicals with the dye. To permanently prevent the removal of the dye, a sealer is applied over the dye to prevent any such materials from contacting the dye. The sealer is comprised of an aliphatic urethane mixed with the alcohol xylol that also includes ultraviolet light resistant properties to prevent the dye from fading over time.

How do you remove stain from marble?

Stains in marble can be removed with acetone from your local hardware store. Pour some onto a clean cloth and rub away at the stain. For deep stains, put several layers of paper towels over the stain, soak the towels with acetone and cover with saran-wrap and tape down the edges with painters blue tape. Let it sit overnight until the paper towels are dry. Wipe down the entire stone with acetone on a soft rag and then reseal with a professional stone sealer.

Can you apply a concret seal in Dec. Because it is a concrete slab do I worry about the temp?

As a general rule of thumb, applying concrete sealer when it is below 50 degrees outside is not recommended as the sealer is less likely to adhere properly. A sure sign the sealer has failed in cold weather is if it turns a semi-opaque white.

Is it safe to clean concrete off a car with muriatic acid?

YES!!!!!!! It has to be diluted with water or it will eat away at the surface. I know from personal experience. This is very strong and corrosive. and should never be used full strength unless you are trained in using. Muriatic acid is an impure form of hydrochloric acid. It is extremely corrosive and it is advised that you use a face shield, and use in a ventilated area only. The fumes are very corrosive and can cause irreparable lung damage. Improper use can release chlorine gas, a gas used in WW I by the Germans. If the purpose is to clean brick, or etch concrete it can be diluted, and should be. The recommended concentration to clean brick is at least 10 parts water to 1 part acid. If the acid releases a very strong fume on opening use 15 to 20 parts water. It also reacts with various metals to form an explosive mixture with air.

Can you apply a drying oil over a polyurethane that is not drying tacky I have stained a crib and have sprayed polyurethane over to seal but the poly is still tacky a week later?

Drying conditions of certain paints and sealers can be critical. Read the directions on the can. Sometimes the manufacturer will specify a certain temperature range and/or humidity level for the paint or sealer to properly dry and harden. You may have exceeded the time range for the polyurethane and it may be best for you to remove the sealer and start over. Make sure it's warm enough and that your humidity level is low enough then the sealer should dry properly. Good luck.
