Do you have your secret laboratory map pieces yet? If you don't, that is probably why you can't use your petpet lab map pieces. You have to get the full 9 pieces of the secret laboratory first.

*once you enter the secret lab you can not sell, trade or auction off the map pieces
*you can not access the petpet lab without all the secret lab map pieces
*it costs heaps to buy the map pieces but you have access to it for life

∙ 13y agoWell first you must have the 9 pieces of the secret laboratory map. You don't have to activate anything. Once you get the pieces the effect will be immediate.
Plus, there are actually 2 maps you need to get to be able to get there. The first one that actually shows you the lab, and another one that shows you how to get there. You can get the one of the lab for about 500np, but the other ones are EXTREMELY expensive!

∙ 13y agoThe Petpet Lab Map in neopets can only be accessed after you obtain all nine pieces of the normal Lab Map and nine pieces of the Petpet lab map. Combined, these currently cost just over 1 millinion np. You can find them on the trading post, auction house, and some on the shop wizard. Once you collect all 9(or 18) pieces, you will be allowed to proceed to the pet/petpet lab. There, a mad scientist will zap your neopet/petpet. For a neopet, the ray can raise/lower any of its stats, change its species, color, or name. For Petpets, it can also change their name, species, and color. It can also change them into a pile of ashes or make them disappear.
Other effects: Using the Petpet lab makes you ineligible to receive an award from the Petpet protection league(ppl) and get a trophy. Normally, the ppl chooses a petpet species every day and gives all the owners of one a trophy to go on the pet's page.
There are also several avatars associated with the labs. Changing the species of your neopet by the lab will give you one, Having your petpet changed into a pile of ashes gives you one, and accessing the Neopet Lab originally gives you one.

Absolutely. I own access to the lab map and can confirm this. So be sure you know what you are doing when you consider to buy all the pieces. This means you can't sell it, trade it, transfer it, or lend it to anyone.

First you need to collect them all and then use them to find the lab. The pieces will disappear so you are unable to sell them, but from then on, you have permanant access to the lab.

The Petpet Lab Ray is aditional to the Secret Laboratory Ray. It zaps your petpet into different petpets, changes it's name and level. It can also make your petpet disappear completely. If you remove this petpet from your pet, it will however revert back to it's original form. You must have the Secret laboratory Ray before you can use the Petpet Lab ray. Hope this helps. Spike
