this belt drive has a belt tensioner, you need to release the tensioner and then you can remove the belt. 2 differant styles of tensioners, one will have a 'inverted torx' fitting right on the front of the pulley, and the other one will have a 17mm socket fitting right below and to the left side of the pulley, just put your ratchet and socket on it and release the tension by turning counter clockwise and holding while you remove the belt.
Disconnect the battery.remove the serpentine belt.Unbolt the pulley.
The ac belt has a tensioner that is accessed from below, and takes a tensioner tool to loosen. Remove the serpentine belt, release tension on the ac belt then the belt can come off for replacement.
Sepentines are held on with spring tension. There should be 1 or more idlers you can move with a crowbar.
You will need to buy a special tool that allows you to release the tension. It is fairly cheap and you can buy one at your local auto parts store. The one I bought was called a "Serpentine belt tool kit" and cost around $25-$30. Hope this helps.
i cant seem to get my tension idle aligned properly.. i think it's the washer alignment is wrong. 2000 qx4 top idle pulley
If it is making a noise like a spark knock, maybe it is a spark knock.
To release tension on the Serpentine belt on a 2001 pathfinder you need the following tools: 10mm open wrench, 12mm socket, long socket extension, socket breaker bar, 14mm socket. Start from above the engine, loosen the fan hood from radiator, use 10mm to loosen the fan from the pulley, ( to remove the belts later), leave up against the radiator but out of your way. Remove the plastic skid plate from under the front bumper. Use the 14mm & breaker bar to loosen the nut on the tensioning pulley, then look at back of pulley- you will see a threaded bolt that is operated with a 12mm wrench on the bolt. Now do the same to the other pulley on the other side of the engine. All tension is released from below the engine.By loosening this bolt you will relieve the tension on the pulley to allow changing of the Serpentine belt. Reverse the procedure after replacing the belts. Check for proper tension and monitoir that nuts on fan are tightened correctly.
how do you change the serpentine belt on a 2001 Rodeo
On any car with a serpentine belt, you must relase the tension from the tensioner assy, via a ratchet or wrench, and the belt will come off. Pay attention to the routing of the belt, if it isn't already labeled on the underside of the hood area.
you will need a 3/8 breaker bar or ratchet and a 3/4 in socket ues that to turn the tensioner to the right ( tward the driver side) to release the tension and while loose slip the belt off one of the pullies to remove
Put the serpentine belt around the pulleys on your 2001 Chrysler LHS. Tighten the serpentine belt by pushing the tensioner pulley to the left. Tighten down the tensioner pulley and the serpentine belt will be tight.
