it depends on what type of disk if it is a 3.5 inch floppy then there is a tab on the corners that can be moved up or down. if you can see through it , it is write protected if not it can be used.

∙ 13y agoThe question doesn't really make much sense, since a standard DVDR is a once write read many (WORM) disc.
If using a Packet Incremental Format a finalised (or closed) disc cannot be altered.
If you are asking about a rewritable DVDRW then there is no write protection on this. You simply reformat the DVDRW. However if you are asking how to defeat copy protection system for films or video game DVD's then that violates copyright.

∙ 15y agoFor a floppy disk, you move the write-protect tab so so that it is not blocking the hole. If you are referring to a hard disk then that would most likely be a software solution. For a CD/DVD, most are write-once read-many (WORM)
