Remove the decorative cover from your 2003 Lincoln Navigator CD player. Remove the CD player retaining screws. Slide the CD player out. Remove the wiring harness from the back of the CD player.
It has a broken belt inside the player. Remove it from the dash and take it to a repair center unless you are mechanically able to change it yourself.
You do not have to remove the dash. You do however have to remove enough of the ductwork to allow access to the heater core. This is almost never an easy job and as I have not replaced one on a Navigator, I cannot tell you exactly what to remove. Just remove what is necessary to get to the core. This is why the Pros charge so much to replace a heater core. Just remember exactly how the parts cam off and how they go back on. Good Luck.
You don't remove the dash. I suggest you take it to a place that does this kind of stuff.
To change the CD player you need to disassemble the dash. First remove the 4 vents. There will be screws there. Also remove the woodgrain trim, there's screws there too. remove them and then pull the black dash piece out.
On our 2000 Navigator, it's under the driver's side dash under the steering wheel.
It is in the middle underneath. You must remove the center console to gain access. Then remove all the trim under the dash. It is a white unit located on the bottom of the hvac plenum.
To remove the dash first lift the hood and remove the battery cable. Remove the screws beneath the dashboard and on the inside top of the glove box. Remove screws on the bottom of the glove box and the left of the steering column and two screws on the dashboard then pull the dash away.
