There is the rest of the door panel removal below, but one screw that needs removing was not mentioned. On both front doors, there is a 'hidden screw' that is on the front edge of the panel near the top. So, don't forget that one.

There is a recall for many VW windows and even if the car is out of warranty, you may get it fixed. See this link: http://www.theautochannel.com/news/2002/11/05/150082.html

Ask your local dealer and you probably will get it done free. They replace a bracket that holds the window in place.

Answer

Start by taking the door panel off by undoing the screws on the bottom. Next pop the cover off of the door handle and remove the screw inside there. The rest of the door should pop off and slide upwards. Once the door panel is off there are 10mm bolts to take out that hold a metal panel onto the door. Take this panel off and then you can adjust the window.

Answer

My passenger side window fell into the door a few weeks ago. This is a covered repair by VW! Call your local dealer and let them know it has happened, and they'll fix both front windows.... A $300 repair for free! PLEASE NOTE: The extended warranty expired in 2007; VW dealerships no longer assume responsibility for this repair.

How do you put a power window back on track when it has come off due to ice inside?

Roll the window about half way down, remove the door panel, take out the bolt(s) holding the window in, completely pull the window out, inspect the tracks for damage, replace if necessary, slide the window back in the tracks. There may be access holes in the door underneath the panel that will lineup with the bolt(s) holding the window in.

How do you remove a door panel on a 98 Jetta to put the window back on its tracks?

remove window handle by twisting ring on base of handle and pulling off.pop off cover plate on door handle and remove 2 outside screws on handle.remove 3 or 4 screws on the bottom of door panel, from bottom of panel push up and panel will become free.there are a few things connected to the panel that need to be removed, they all unplug from door but remember where they go and how they came apart.if you are just trying to put the window back in there are 2 holes with rubber covers, open those and roll window down until you see window clamps, put in window and do not overtighten.if you want to get to the track you need to remove window handle assembely, door latch assembely, and large plate on door.now everything is exposed, you will clearly see the track and how it comes off and on I have a 2000 Jetta. The front passenger window fell off the tracks. I did have it repaired by the shop but later received a recall notice and was refunded my service costs. While this information may not answer your direct question--just maybe, if your car was included in the recall--you could have it repaired with no cost. I have a 1995 Jetta and I found the already posted answers to the above question helped me out with my problem: How do you get the window handle off from a door side panel that has manual roll up windows? The answer is that the window handle pops off by sliding the ring at the base of the window winder(handle). The mechanism is ingenious. It took a bit of finger strength, but no tools required. So don't do what I did at first, which was to try and pry the window winder off with a couple screwdrivers. I nearly broke the handle off. I was surprised at how easy the procedure was once I knew what to do.

How do you remove the window regulator on a 70 Chevelle?

Remove the armrest, door handle, and window handle. You will need a special tool to get the window handle off. They're cheap and you can get them at any auto parts store. Remove the screws at the bottom of the door panel then CAREFULLY pull the retaining clips out of the door by sliding a screwdriver between the panel and door where the clips are (you'll find them at the front and back) it is VERY easy to tear the backing of the door panel when removing them, so be careful and patient. Slide the door panel up to unhook the top of it from the door. Remove the window regulator bolts and carefully slide the rollers out of the window tracks. Carefully remove the window from the top of the door. slide the window regulator out.

To remove the door panel on a 1994 VW Jetta, first remove the lenses of any lights that are in the door panel.
