How do you remove a front hub and bearing assembly on a 2000 Cavalier after all nuts have been removed and it still won't budge...is it necessary to disconnect the control arm to do this?
If a few good strikes with a hammer doesnt release the assembly an air chisel will easily.
If you're trying to replace the rear wheel bearing and all you can find is the rear hub assembly, it probably means that you can't get just the bearing. Many vehicle manufacturers press the bearing into the assembly at the factory and there is no way to replace just the bearing. If they're offering the assembly, that's probably what you'll need to buy.
How do you fix the traction control system it keeps coming on when the gas is accelerated and when the brakes are pressed?
It's probably being caused by a defective wheel speed sensor. Sometimes this happens shortly before the wheel bearing fails, other times the sensor or the wire connection is faulty. Most times it is necessary to replace the wheel bearing assembly. The wheel speed sensor is integral to the bearing assembly.
If it is 4x4 remove axle from wheel bearing assembly and then remove the wheel bearing assembly. Make sure the tone ring (looks like a ring with teeth) is still attached to the spped sensor side of the bearing, if not, replace wheel bearing assembly with an assembly that comes with the speed sensor. Replacing a speed sensor without a tone ring is pointless because it won't work.
