You don't mention the type of vehicle so the best advice I can offer is to go to an auto parts store and buy a Haynes Repair Manual for your vehicle. It will give you step by step instructions for the replacement.
You need a radio remova tool (or a couple of small flathead screwdrivers) places either side of the radio. Lever towards the back of the radio, inwards, and pull the unit towards you.....
Drain the water from your radiator. Remove the radiator hoses. Remove the radiator stabilizing arm retaining bolts. Remove the radiator retaining bolts.
Remove top plate, upper & lower hoses, hose to reservoir (if applicable) Remove fan if needed for clearance, pull straight up.
In the exhaust manifold.

You will need to remove the inside door panel of your 2002 VW Jetta. Remove the wiring harness from the mirror. Remove the side view mirror retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install the new side view mirror.
I have a VW Jetta 1.8t with the tiptronic transmission and it cost about $3500 to have rebuilt. I was bummed, but these transmissions are notorious for failing.
According to the Haynes manual, the thermostat is located by follwing the lower radiator hase from the radiator back to the engine. The housing for the thermostat is bolted on the side of the engine block facing the radiator.
How to remove a radiator
my understanding, as for most repairs on the newer VW is to remove the front bumper and grille of the car. it sounds cumbersome and overwhelming but it's actually not that bad of a procedure. i have a 1996 jetta and it takes me 20 minutes to remove the grille and bumper.
never heard of a radiator cord - is that something you pull to get it started ??

On a VW Jetta 1999 the ABS light won't turn off. Does the ABS system needs servicing or is it a sensor that needs to be replaced?
does it have a ecotek valve fitted?
