how much is it going to cost me to replace the back struts on my Nissan maxima
It has 4 struts. The front uses a regular strut assembly. The rear struts have replaceable cartridges.

After some negotiation, I was able to get a Nissan dealer to replace them for about $600, including parts and labor.
I paid 79.99 each for my back struts then had my dad change them for me. Pretty simple actually
I think it is the struts that are the problem, at least is the problem on mine It sounds like they did not reconnect the struts .. or did not reconnect properly.
i have a 2004 altima and have received quotes for the 2 front struts. one quote is as high as 300 dollars per side..parts, labor, tire balance and front end alignment. this quote is based upon Nissan parts, or what a Nissan dealership would charge to do it. the mechanic said it would be less..but he wouldn't say how much more less. 2nd quote is 115 per side..that's all they said-with the exception that you should replace all 4 at the same time(rolling eyes) You do not have to replace all four struts at once, but you shouldn't just do one at time either. Replace them in pairs if you can't do all four. Struts are around $200 each. I would not recommend having a Nissan dealer replace them because the labor alone is going to cost way too much money; have a local certified mechanic do it instead.
To replace the front struts on a 2000 model Hyundai Sonata, you will first need to remove the tires. There will be 3 nuts on top of the strut mount. You will need to remove the 2 bolts that connect from the strut to the knuckle. Then you will need to remove the ABS sending unit as well as the front brake hose. Once these components are removed, you can remove the strut. In order to remove the strut, you will need a special tool to compress the spring. Once the struts are removed, you can safely replace them with new struts.
When replacing struts, ALWAYS replace them in pairs.
Compress the shock spring with a spring compressor. Remove the top strut bolt. Remove the bottom strut bolt. Reverse the process to install the new struts.
Trunk struts are mounted to the back of the trunk. Locate the mounting hardware and remove it. Be sure to use the proper replacement struts and replace each side. Do one side at a time to avoid moving the trunk out of alignment.

Yes because during braking your tire will loose contact with road which will affect our stopping distance. it will also cause waves on the tire and when you do replace your struts you will have a vibration while driving

Unless your Maxima has already been converted to standard struts, it would have the electronic shocks & struts in it. If so, replacing them is a massive project, just take it to a garage. I don't think the electronic shocks are still available (unless you find them on e bay). Most shops quote replacing the electronic shocks and struts as about 12 hours of work. Converting them to standard shocks/struts is a little less time consuming, but still a job that you really want an expert performing this operation. The conversion kits are getting hard to find, but they are still out there. If your Maxima has already been converted to standard struts, the bolt/nut holding them in place is at the top. It's not easily accessible, but if you fold down the rear seat and go at it from inside the car it's not too hard to get at. Installing the new strut is a two person job. You need someone to hold the strut in place while the other person puts tightens the bolt/nut.
You will need to compress the strut spring with a spring compressor. Be very careful as the spring will be under several hundred pounds of pressure. Remove the nuts on each and of the strut. Reverse the process to install the new strut.

how do you remove the rear struts/shocks on 2002 hyundai sonata.
Prop the liftgate up securely with a 2x4 to get easy access to the struts....the liftgate is HEAVY and will hurt you if it falls closed while you're doing the replacement. The struts are held on top and bottom with small clips at the pivot point. Just pull the clips out, remove the old struts and reverse to replace. 15 minute job and easy to do.
It isn't hard at all aslong as you have patience and alittle know how. Be warned I highly suggest you take the struts once removed from the car to a service center to have them remove the strut from the springs!
you have to take bar off between the front suspension struts
