Do not wash your coat or jacket in a washing machine or put in a dryer. Most shearling coats are meant to be dry cleaned. When looking for a dry cleaner, make sure that they know how to properly clean them. The process must include putting the natural oils back into the hides. Without doing this process, the hides will dry out and the coat will be ruined.
When hanging your coat or jacket use a sturdy, well shaped coat hangar. Don't use a wire hanger that's going to put "pokies" in the shoulders and don't hang it up on a knob for extended periods of time.
If the coat doesn't need to be cleaned you can hang it in a small confined closet that has fresh sachets of herbs like eucalyptis leaves, rose petals, dried fruit peel and lavender. After a while of hanging on a good hangar amongst the fresh smelling sachets the coat will absorb the fresh scent.
It needs to be washed, you will usually find washing instructions on a small label sewn inside the garment. Otherwise I would sugest a hand wash (not a machine) in cool water with a mild detergent, follow the instructions on the package.
You can use a little instant hand sanitizer and gently rub it around the arm pits where most of the bacteria accumulates. Use it occasionally because the alcohol in the hand sanitizer can damage the clothing. Spot check a few areas with the hand sanitizer to make sure it doesn't stain the clothing.
Don't overcook them, and there will be no odor.
Hand wash the sweater in vinigar ( no soap) roll it in a towell to dry. Next hand wash as normal adding vanilla flavouring or vanilla fabric softner. Dry as usual. Good Luck
You can remove body odor by bathing frequently and put on deodorant so your arm pits don't smell.

To remove cigarette odor from a book, place it in a plastic bag and sprinkle in some baking soda. Close the bag and allow it to sit for a few days. The odor should then be gone.
I have never tried salt. But, the best thing to use to remove the odor of cat urine is white vinegar and water.
