The air intake system for most vehicles is located over the transmission hump between the driver and passenger. You can spray some air freshener down in this area and it will circulate through the vents. Try this on MAX AC. Additionally, you can put an can of air freshener down there full time.
I do not recommend tearing into the dash, there are a ridiculous amount of wires and vacuum tubes back there and tracking down a gremlin in one of those will drive you insane.
Probably blew a fuse, that's what just happened to me. Look up how to replace them in your manual, its pretty easy.

18.5 gallons (to be exact... 70 liters) It's the same tank as my 1998 Avalon. You should get about 16.0 gallons until the yellow gas indicator light comes on. I have found the light comes on earlier or later depending on how your car is angled (ie: going up a hill or coming down). I Hope that helps. :D
