loosen belt

remove wiring plugs

remove part that has the metal tube going to it. It will leak freon if your system is full

there are 4 bolts on the front of the compressor connecting it to the engine, remove them.

lift compressor out.

this is from the top of my head, so sorry if it isn't exact, but will give you an idea. takes about an hour to change for the average person with proper tools.

bolts the compresor to mounted bracket, conect the refrigerant lines on compresor,conect the clutch wiring harness replace the drivebelt.

Remove the belt from your 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis air conditioning compressor. Remove the air conditioning hoses. Remove the air conditioning compressor retaining bolts.
