the big hose(about 4-5 inches in diameter that runs from the top of the engine to the front of the car, remove the hose, next is the air box that holds the air filter. Remove the whole box. now look through the end of the box previously not seen. It should be smaller than the hose going to the engine. normally made out of plastic, it is normally a very tight fit to the outside diameter pull it out or start to break it away from the outside diameter hose. the air silencer is just a way to minimze air coming into the engine. or better yet remove, remove the whole thing and replace it with a k&n(cone) air filter and air tube setup for a mustang adds some bling to the compartment too.
