How do you remove the clutch fan nut to replace the water pump on a 1999 Safari is it reverse threaded?

Perplexing ins'nt it. I took me two hours to figure this out. You need to make a bracket. It attaches to one one of the four bolts behind the fan which holds the pully on. The other end of bracket gets attached to the cloest alternator bolt. I used a 1" wide X .09 thick steel bar stock. As you can tell, it's not a straight bar when you finish making it. Bend it in a bench vise and drill the clearence holes to fit the two bolts. You will need it to replace the fan assembly also. Hope this helps.

no they are not! the only bolt that maight be left tread is the fan clutch and only on some models not all.

There should be a threaded rod that goes from the clutch fork to the linkage arm, this can be shortened or lengthened as needed.

To replace the transmission clutch on any stick shift vehicle, remove the engine and/or transmission. The engine and transmission must be separated since the clutch is between them. Pull the flywheel and have it resurfaced. replace the flywheel, following recommended procedures. Use a new pilot bushing/glan nut. Replace the clutch disk using a NEW pressure plate assembly and be certain to align the disk using a pilot shaft. Re-install the engine/transmission in the reverse order that you took it/them out.

Rotate the switch on the rod for the master cylinder for the clutch. Take out the retaining clip. Remove the clutch pedal position switch from the rod. Disconnect the electrical plug. Plug the new clutch pedal position switch in and installation is the reverse of removal

easy you get the gear stick and on there underneath the stick will be a little clutch button of sum sort and then you put into reverse along with the clutch in

remove clutch plates etc. the large bolt around the pushrod is reverse threaded with a locking tab washer, bend the tabs flat, using an impact wrench to remove the large bolt is best. the whole unit will slide right off
