ive tryand can,t get the bolt to brake loose
The crank bolt is right thread on a 96 geo metro. bob.
To remove a crank shaft pulley you need to first jack up the car. Next, remove the bold holding the crack shaft pulley in place and remove the unit. Reverse direction to put the new crank shaft pulley on your car.
On most newer cars, the crank pulley is one piece with the harmonic balancer.... Remove it with a harmonic balancer puller.
There is a large metric bolt right (17 or 18mm) in the center of the main crank pulley. Immobilize the crank using a vise-grip equiped with a locking chain. Wrap an old fan belt (cut-to-size) around the crank and protect the serpentine gooves of the crank pulley, then wrap the vise chain and clamp onto the crank. Use a good breaker bar, or impact hammer to break the bolt torque free counter-clockwise. Note: Don't remove the four 10mm bolts on the crank pulley. The whole thing comes off as one assemble piece.
How do I remove a pully from the drive shaft. The snap ring that holds pully on has been taken off.Itried a gear puller but it bends the pully.
The number one cylinder is on the same side as the crank pulley (belt).
CAUTION: Some models are equipped with anti-theft-radio make sure you have the activation code before disconnecting battery * Disconnect the negative battery cable * Rotate the engine in the normal direction of rotation (clockwise) until the No.1 cylinder is located TDC * Remove the accessory drivebelt * Loosen the water pump pulley bolts and then remove the water pump pulley * Using a chain wrench or a strap wrench to hold the crankshaft pulley loosen the crank pulley bolt and then remove the pulley bolt and the crank pulley.Make sure that you dont move the no.1 cylinder from TDC while loosening the crank pulley bolt. After removing the crankshaft pulley remove the timing belt retainer/guide flange * Remove the four upper timing belt cover bolts and then remove the upper timing belt cover.Remove the lower timing belt cover bolts * Make sure that the timing belt camshaft sprocket timing marks are aligned with the top cylinder head * Remove the timing belt tensioner pulley bolt and then remove the tensioner pulley * Remove the timing belt
12mm /19mm
remove all belts, tensioners etc, remove pulley bolt, use HARMONIC BALENCER PULLEY to remove - DO NOT USE NORMAL PULLEY REMOVER - must be pulled from center of pulley not from outer edge
disconnect negative battery cable rotate the engine in the normal direction of rotation(clockwise)until the no.1 is TDC remove the accessory drivebelt loosen the water pump pulley bolts and then remove the water pump pulley using a chain wrench or a strap wrench to hold the crankshaft pulley, loosen the crank pulley bolt and then remove the pulley bolt and the crank pulley.Make sure that you dont move the No.1 cylinder from TDC while loosening the crank pulley bolt. After removing the crankshaft pulley remove the timing belt retainer/guide flange remove the 4 upper timing belt cover bolts and then remove the upper timing belt cover.Remove the lower timing belt cover bolts make sure that the timing belt camshaft sprocket timing marks are aligned with the top of the cylinder head if your planning to re-use the timing belt put a directional arrow indicating the normal clockwise direction of rotation on the belt remove the timing belt tensioner pulley bolt and then remove the tensioner pulley remove the timing belt remove the timing belt idler pulley bolt and then remove the idler pulley if the camshaft sprocket is damaged or must be removed to replace the camshaft seal or to strip the cylinder head for overhaul use a wrench to hold the cramshaft in place and then remove the sprocket retaining bolt. Then remove the camshaft sprocket from the end of the camshaft remove the crankshaft tioming belt sprocket
it would be a 19mm or a 22mm
1.Disconnect the negative battery cable 2.Rotate the engine in the normal direction of rotation (clockwise)until the no.1 cylinderis located at TDC 3.Remove the accessory drivebelts 4.Loosen the water pump pulley 5.Using a chain wrench or a strap wrench to hold the crankshaft pulley, loosen the crank pulley bolt and then remove the pulley bolt and the crank pulley.Make sure that you dont move the no.1 cylinder from TDC while loosening the crank pulley bolt. After removing the crankshaft pulley, remove the timing belt retainer/guide flange 6.Remove the four upper timing belt cover bolts and then remove the upper timing belt cover.Remove the lower timing belt cover bolts 7.Make sure that the timing belt camshaft sprocket timing marks are aligned with the top of the cylinder head. 8.Remove the timing belt tensioner pulley bolt and then remove the tensioner pulley 9.Remover the timing belt
