Surprisingly, it is a pain, but when u open the front doors (if you have a 4 door, my car was only a 2 door) Theres panels u can pop out on each side, there will be screws there take them out (on the left side there will be a fuse box) Then in the center of the dash you have to take out your defroster, unscrew that. Then in your glove box there is 2 screws way up (which u need an extension for to reach) unscrew them, then there should be several more in the glove box to unscrew. pop that baby lose, and the whole thing will come off, then you have 4 more screws to take off for the casing around the steering wheel and the radio. boom u can get access to put in an after stock radio.
The flasher for a 99 Cavalier is under the drivers side of the dash. The flasher is mounted at the top of the emergency brake pedal.

Remove the tire and wheel from your 1999 Chevy Cavalier. Remove the brake spring and the caliper. The brake pads will come off. Tap on the rotor with a hammer or mallet. The rotor will slide off. Reverse the process to install the new brakes and rotor.

CHEVROLET Cavalier 1995-99 Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent an accidental short circuit. Remove (3) 7mm hex-head screws from the top of the glove box liner. Remove (2) 7mm hex-head screws from the top-left corner of the glove box cavity. Remove (1) Phillips screw from the defroster duct. Remove the duct work and (1) Phillips screw exposed. Unclip the dash trim piece and remove (2) Phillips screws exposed. Remove the dash pad and (3) Phillips screws exposed at the top of the radio trim bezel.

It depends on which engine your trying to swap. The 2.2L OHV engine will work in a 99 from a 2002 because it was the same engine. But if it's a Z24 model the 2.2L DOHC engine will not fit a 99 because the 99 used the old 2.4L Quad 4 in the Z24 models and some LS sedan models.
