If the panels are like the 95 and 96 models, you don't need to remove door panels....carefully pop the grill covers off the door panels...there is a speaker mount behind the grill...remove the 4 speaker screws and your done. Start with the top of the grill and pull gently downward. There are metal clips on the cover and plastic hooks to the side which all hold it in place. Slow and careful is the name of the game here.

Remove the door panels and replace the speakers. They sit in baskets and are simple to replace. We have instructions at our enthusiasts forum. www.trailvoy.com

They are 6 1/2 inch in the front door panels. If its an extended cab the rears are 4 x 6 inch. Let me tell you from experience replacing the rear speakers in a 97 extended cab is a pain, but can be done. Be cafeful not to break the panel clips then your panels will vibrate when the speakers are turned up.

my celica had 8" subwoofers in the front and standard 6" speakers in the back. I had a 1995

You have to remove the door panels. You can use 6.5" speakers with a little bit of adaptation. You can search for door panel removal. There are 4 screws, a couple of clips and clips around the edge of the door panel.

User Avatar

For the front speakers your gonna have to take the door panels off to get to all the wiring and everything and for the back ones you should just be able to take the plastic cover off and replace them

User Avatar

You will need to remove the inner panels to gain access.

User Avatar

theres a few screws under the dash on each side. Take the panels off underneath on each side and you get to the speakerss which if i recall correctly are 4 inch.

User Avatar

4" in the dash and 5.25" in the rear panels, rumor has it that you can fit up to a 6.5" in those rear panels or a 6x9" with some trimming.

User Avatar

Unscrew door handles in front first then just pull off door panels carefully unscrew speakers and replace with new.

User Avatar

you will have to take all the panels out to back and pull up the cardboard and there are the speakers

User Avatar

Pull the inside door panels off and you will see there bolted in the door.

User Avatar

Pull the inner door panels off and the speakers are mounted in the door.

There should be 4 door speakers in a blazer - all of them are 6 1/2" speakers. I do believe you need to pull off the door panels to replace the speakers, I have not done that to my truck yet.. Hope that helps you.

Answera nineteen page summery is available on the net...go to http//www.gearmonkey.org/sixthman/archiives/001934.html. this is a total discussion the the replacement of the front and rear speakers with pictures and text..very helpfulTry to use Toyota speaker adapter plugs so you don't need to cut wires and mess the electric system up. You can get them from Ebay or Amazon.

User Avatar

if you are talking about the extended cab, you have to take the 2 panels out and be careful doing so or you can break them.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REPLACE THOSE SPEAKERS!!! What you have in the back are 4x6 inch speakers, and no 6x9 will not fit. The panels in the back where the speakers are are very very very fragile. Basically there is no way you can replace the without breaking the majority of the tabs or the panel itself. That is one part of that car that cannot be messed with unless you have some replacement panels. I assure you, you will break them. Even if you try to get it done professionaly, i havent seen any installers that will touch them unless you got replacement panels. You dont need to replace them anyway, just get a good set in the front. Its not worth it to dive into that. I was wondering that myself. I went to a local electronics shop, and they have the speakers in the back listed as 4x6.. there would be room for 6x9 but some modding would have to be done. Hope that helps

Open your trunk | remove the lugguage cover holder from both sides | Side panels are attached using snap on so just snug it out carefully. Then you can access your rear speakers easily. I also put some industrial wall insulators (you can buy some from Home Depot or Lowes) and stuff it inside the panels. It reduces road noise and vibrations/ratteling sounds. Hope this helps. Remove the door panels and unscrew the grills, then unscrew the speakers

Which speakers? Kick panels, door or behind seats?

See the answer for the 93 model if you're referring to the rear ones. If you want to replace the front ones, you have to remove the door panels.
