I just changed the speakers in my 01 about a month ago. The speaker covers are mounted "TO" the rear deck. You have to remove the rear deck to change the speakers out. I left the factory covers on, because I wasn't sure I could mount the aftermarket ones back and look good. I believe they were held on with a washer and pop rivot type of setup. Hope this helps

If you remove the rear seat cushion and then the seat back, you can access the clips holding the package shelf and remove them. The speakers are held in with four screws each that have to be removed. It's only about an hour job.there are several "clips" holding the carpet down behind the rear seats. they can be accessed through the trunk and then the whole piece will lift out and the speakers can be removed.

I have a 99 Chevy prizm. The throttle body is located on the driver side of the car in the engine. Following the air filter housing (the black tube) you will it connected to the engine. It will have a clamp on it. You need a screwdriver to loosen the clamp. It might be a bit hard to remove.

You have to remove the door panesl. The speakers are attached to the doors by screws. Remove the door panel, remove the screws holding the speakers in and unplug the wire connector. Go get some new ones the same size and splice connect the wires to the new connectors. Use shrink tubing or electrical tape over the splices. Put it all back together.
