Remove the positive battery cable from your 2000 Saturn battery. Remove the cables from the front of the starter. Remove the three starter retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install the new starter.
The battery in the Saturn Vue is located under the hood on the driver's side, near the front of the car.
First you have to slide off the computer looking thing in front of the battery, you should then see the metal plate it was attached to - which is also holding down the battery... simply remove it with a wrench and disconect the battery cables (black first) and the battery should slide right out.
I think you have to remove the driver's side front tire and the battery is up in front of that. Believe it or not!
Remove - battery cable Remove + battery cable Remove hold-down bolt on front bottom of battery tray Remove battery
You need to remove the panel from in front of the passenger side front tire to access the battery. You will also have to remove the air filter housing to get at the battery hold down so you can remove the battery. Hope this helped.

Remove left front wheel, remove inner fender well, remove battery.
Did this last night (12-11-06). Underneath the "gadget" (I don't know what it is actually) there is a bolt that afixes the gadget to a metal bracket. The best way to actually see the head of the bolt is to look between the small crack between the "gadget" and the battery. That bracket holds the side of the battery closest to the front of the car in place as well. This bolt is VERY hard to see/get to. You'll need a wrench 1/2" size. You should reach down the right side of "gadget" to get the wrench in place. The space is really tight, and you may not even be able to see, just have to go by feel. In order to turn the wrench you may need to pull some free-hanging wires/cables towards the driver side headlight. Due to limited space for the handle of the wrench to move, at MOST, you'll only get a quarter turn each time. So it takes a long time. Once the bolt is loose enough (you don't need to completely take the bolt out), the bracket will be loose enough to pull the battery out and put the new one in. The gadget is the fan cooling sensor, and after I struggled as above to remove the battery I read the book at Murrys. The fan cooling sensor can be lifted right up just pry with a flat head screw driver and pull up. Mine was kind of stuck but one good tug and it came right up.
it is in front of the pass front tire. to remove it you have to take the tire off. you can also remove the air filter to get more access to the battery.
