If you have already removed the passenger's air bag, you will see two long metal rods holding it on. On the inside of the dash, at the beginning of these two post, there is a small black square piece with a white strip on the side. This strip is actually a clip. Press in on the white strip while pulling on the handle. This takes two people. One to press on both clips and one to pull REALLY HARD on the handle to slide it out.
You have to remove the top portion of the dash, after removed you'll see tabs on both sides of the handle. Push them in and pull the handle out.

That is called a quick disconnect fitting and it requires a SPECIAL tool to get it loose.
the heater core is accessed from under the hood it is a nasty time consuming task. lift the hood and see the heater assembly against firewall. remove all that to get at the heater core
buy a Chilton manual and it will tell you most of what you need to know.
There are two hoses for the 2006 Silverado heater core. Loosen the clamps where the hoses go into the firewall. Twist the hoses gently to break them loose. Slide the hoses off. Follow the hoses to the other end, and repeat the process.
Use a small screw driver to pry the tiny pin that holds it in place with the shaft. The pin looks like a paperclip and is wraped around the cylinder of the handle.

It is not too hard. You will have to remove the door panel, then you will see how the interior handle is riveted to the metal door frame work. You will need to drill these rivets out and install the new handle with either rivets or screws.

Remove the wiring harness from the back of your 2005 Chevy Cavalier heater blower motor. Remove the heater blower motor retaining bolts. Remove the heater blower fan.
You have to remove the dash and cowling underhood to remove the heater case. Then you would need to disassemble the heater case.
