Remove the water supply hoses from your 1987 Ford E1 50 heater core. Remove the heater core retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install the new heater core.
To change the heater core in a 87 ford f150 is easy. Just remove the glove box and then behind it there is 7 bolts. After you remove the 7 bolts then just remove the cover and behind it is the heater core. By far the easiest heater core I ever changed.
drain coolant, disconect heater hose's, remove glove box, remove heater core cover, remove heater core. reverse order to reinstall.

Drain all coolant from your system, disconnect heater core hoses from heater core in engine compartment. Remove the glove box, open plastic housing, and theres your heater core. No need to remove dash if only replacing the core.
you have to remove the dash, get a Haynes manual Chilton's may be better rent from library) follow the remove dash instructions, heater core is slightly to the left of the glove box. remove heater core cover, remove hoses from heater core (engine compartment) pull out old core. pia job.
Sell your Ford junk its not the only problem you will have.
Remove the glove box and you'll have access to the heater core, still not easy.
Remove the glove-box door. Behind that is the heater core cover on the interior, passenger side of the firewall. Remove that cover and there is the heater core. Open the hood and look where the heater hoses enter the front right passenger area of the exterior side of the firewall. Disconnect the two heater hose clamps and you can then remove the heater core.
