You remove the heater core by removing the entire dash assembly.
Remove, glove box, centre console, top dash pad, dash facia, headunit sorround, all aircon controls etc etc, then remove the HVAC unit which has the heater core inside it, HVAC can be removed once 5 bolts are removed from the engone bay holding it in place and heater hoses disconnected from the heater core,
note - coolant must be flushed first, and aircon gas must be removed

Remove the hoses from the heater core pipes and install a short piece of pipe in both those ends. Install hose clamps and it's bypassed.

the heater core is located behind the dash on the passenger side of the cab. much of the dash has to be removed and shifted to get to the box that houses the heater core. the hoses that supply coolant to the heater core must be remove via the engine bay. it is somewhat of a lengthy process, but can be done with patience and time.

I remove both heater hoses and use a garden hose to force water through the heater core. I just send water through both ways for a couple of minutes.
It is inside the heater core box behind the dash assembly. The dash assembly must be removed to gain access.
