First you will adjust your steering wheel to slide down with lever on left side of wheel.

Second remove the 2 screws on black plastic on top of speedo above clear plastic.

Slide speedo covering out gently but firmly.

Remove remaining visble screws.

Slide Speedo out and remove all plugs connected.

Hi, Typically a speedometer is a non-repairable item. You can remove the instrument cluster and take it apart and see if you can play with it and you might be rewarded for your efforts, but...? The speedometer cable might be disconnected at one end or the other or the cable might have broken then it's a replacement that will be needed. When you remove the cable, jkust spin it and see if turns, also see if the speedometer sill move when you have the instrument cluster out. If the speedometer is in fact broken, then your best bet is to try a local salvage yard, we used to cal them junk yards, and see if they have a Tracker that is the same as yours and buy an instrument cluster from them also check E-Bay. You should be successful with one of those solutions. Please get back and let us know more information if you need more help. Good luck and I hope this is of help to you. Steve H.

Remove the instrument bezel first. Pop out the emergency flasher controller and there is one screw behind there. There are two screws above the steering wheel as well. Then gently remove the bezel. The instrument cluster is next with four screws. After you remove those four screws, pull out the instrument cluster and unhook the three electrical connections. If you are removing the actual speedometer you need to remove the plastic case from the instruments. Pull off the trip odometer rubber piece and then there are six tabs that hold the unit in place. Simply pull it out while depressing the tabs. The speedometer then can be removed by three screws on the back of the cluster.

you must remove the molding around the instrument cluster then the clear plastic cover over the gauges, then you must remove the instrument cluster by taking out screws and disconnecting all three wire harneses, and then disconnect the speedometer cable from the back of the speedometer (make sure speedometer is fully disconnected or else the cable could snap.) Once cluster is free on the backside each light is labeled, turn the plugs counter-clockwise to unlock.

Remove the instrument cluster cover. Each instrument gauge is secured separately with retaining screws. Remove the retaining screws from each gauge. Remove the wiring harnesses from each gauge.

The speedometer cable connects between the transmission and the back of the instrument cluster. To get at the back of the instrument cluster, it would be easiest to remove it. You actually can lay under the dash and remove the cable by pinching the connector at the back of the instrument panel and gently pulling it off. If you kink the cable, it will be ruined, but it's fairly strong. Just don't yank on it. At the transmission end, the cable can be unscrewed from the top of the transmission.
