You need a small gear puller.
You have to remove the linkage from the wiper motor.
Look at the center section of the firewall
You will probably have to remove the cowl that covers the linkage. When you do that, the linkage should come out then. There are probably C clips connecting the individual wiper arms to the linkage.
The 1999 Nissan windshield wiper linkage is held in place by three retaining nuts. Remove the retaining nuts and the linkage will come free. Replace the linkage with new linkage.
If one wants to replace a wiper linkage there are a few steps involved. Pull the wiper arm away from the windshield until the arm locks in vertical position. Unbolt the nut that holds the wiper arm to the linkage and pull the wiper arm off the linkage. Open the hood and unbolt the wiper motor and slide the motor off of the linkage. One then will remove the wiper linkage and install a new one.
Remove the wiring harness from the wiper motor. Remove the wiper arm linkage. Remove the wiper motor retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install the new wiper motor.

Remove the old wiper and replace with a new one
# Remove the wiper arms and blade assemblies. # Remove the cowl panel. # Remove the pivot shaft mounting nuts and push the pivot shaft toward the inside. # Remove the wiper motor mounting bolts. # Disconnect the linkage from the motor and remove. To Install: # Lubricate the wiper linkage. # Connect the wiper linkage to the motor. # Install the wiper motor to the firewall. # Pull the pivot shaft into position and install the pivot shaft mounting nuts. Tighten to 7-11 ft. lbs. (10-15 Nm). # Install the cowl panel. # Install the wiper arm and blade assemblies. # Check wipers for proper operation.
