How do you remove the taillight cover from a Ford ranger 2000?

Thank goodness I found this article. It tells you exactly how to do it and with pictures I might add...


I believe it unbolts/unscrews from the inside. If you're changing a bulb, I think that can also be done from the inside, WITHOUT removing the outside lenses.

I have a 2000 Ranger, and on mine the lens is made of plastic. To remove it, I squeeze the lens just enough so that the tabs will snap out.

Jack up the 2000 ranger. Remove the wheel and brake caliper. slide the rotor off. Take off the axle nut dust cover and remove the cotter pin. Remove the nut, and slide the assembly off. Change the bearings and races, then reassemble.

Inside the trunk there is a trim panel that needs to be removed that covers up the taillight bolts. Remove the trim panel and then you can remove the two bolts that hold in the taillight. I have also included an instructional video that will show you how this is done. Hope this helps, 1ATony

remove two screws, remove tail light, remove bulb. reinstallation is the reverse of removal.
