Most transmission dipsticks look and function the same. Have a wad of paper towels in your non-dominant hand. Locate the top of the Transmission Fluid dipstick (not the oil). Grasp the top, and gently twist and pull outward/upward. As you see the glistening fluid on the stick, prepare to open your hand holding the paper towels so you can lay the end of the stick over the towel. Turn it until you see the measurement markings on the stick. Note the top line marked is the maximum; do not fill above that line. Note how many lines down from the top your level reads--this tells you how much fluid you need to replace.
When you handle the dipstick, take care with it. Do not lay it down anywhere; it can pick up dirt and debris. When done, line up the stick with the hole and gently reinsert it. Make sure it "seats" properly; it normally needs a gentle twist to lock it in. Wipe up any drips you made on the car. Close the hood. Dispose of the paper towels properly in the garbage. Wash your hands.
It is often easiest to pull into a full service gas station or an auto parts store and ask someone to show you how to check the oil and transmission fluids.
Assuming we are talking about an automatic transmission, you remove the transmission dip stick and pour fluid into the dipstick tube.
You remove the transmission dip stick. You will need a small funnel that will fit in the tube where the stick goes in at to check fluid level in transmission. Put fluid in there.
Remove mounting clamps - filler tube should pull out of transmission- you will have to replace "O" ring seal at bottom of tube
For an automatic transmission, look for the dip-stick tube. Remove the dip stick, insert a funnel, and fill to the recommended amount. For a manual transmission, look for the plug next to the transmission housing. Remove the plug, insert a funnel, and fill to the level of the hole.
From the transmission fluid level dip stick. Remove the stick, use a funnel (the tube is very small, about 1/2 inch diameter), fill in the ATF
Transmission fluid is added through the same tube that the dip stick fits into. Remove the transmission dip stick, then use a funnel to slowly add fluid, checking frequently to prevent overfilling.
IN THE DIP STICK TUBE.....
